During the Astors' ownership, guests to Cliveden included Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Rudyard Kipling and George Bernard Shaw.

The magnificant gardens and parkland are most famous for the thousand yard long parterre laid out in 1855. Other delights include the Fountain of Love, topiary, colour themed herbaceous borders, Chinese water gardens and charming riverside walks.
